I started my career in corporate accounting in 1996, handling the bookkeeping duties for a restaurant and catering company in Sarasota, Florida. In 1999, I moved home to Atlanta, and worked as an accounts receivable clerk for an industrial lifting products manufacturer, eventually being promoted to manage the AR team in 2000. From there, I worked as the staff accountant for a local legal newspaper. In 2004, I took a position in purchasing at my family’s architectural aluminum manufacturing business, and became controller shortly thereafter, holding that position until 2015, when I started The McClatchey Group.

During my career in corporate accounting, I found that too many accounting professionals treat our field as a complex, difficult science, only made clear through difficult-to-understand language, arcane processes, and tedious, complicated recordkeeping. Rather, corporate accounting can be simple, transparent, and easy to understand. It has become too difficult for small business owners to tackle their accounting needs while still keeping their focus on their core field, and I sensed a dearth of straightforward, practical help for those often overworked owners. I have clients and extensive experience in restaurants and hospitality, real estate, health care, manufacturing, retail and more, and I’d love to be the solution for whatever accounting needs you have.
